It's been over 2 years since Frontcode (owners of Winmx) shut down their WinMX peer cache servers. A lot has happened since that day in September, 2005, when we were going channel to channel asking users on primary connections to stay connected as long as they possibly could. During that period, many dedicated people came together to release a method which enabled users to connect to the WinMX network once again.Since that time, we at MXPie info resources have become far more knowledgeable and continue to develop our resource to meet with users requirements. With the inception of MXPie info resource, we look to increase public awareness and continue to provide MXPie Patch and WinMX connection resource. We are looking forward to rolling out a new MXpie patch in the near future and will continue to expand our resources for WinMX help. 1. What does MXPie mean?
MX came of course from WinMX, and the PIE part stands for Peer Integration Exchange, hence the MXPie Patch. We chose to use this name to brand the connection patch to make it easier for users to find patches, resources and help. MXPie Patch is often also referred to as the Piepatch, WinMX Patch, or WinMX Pie Patch.
2. Is MXPie a new name for WinMX?
Winmx is and remains called Winmx. The MXPie Team chooses the name MXPie to represent the patch and the Pie teams efforts to support WinMX, such as the MXPie Patch.
3. Where can I download MXPie patch?
MXPie Patch is available from the Downloads section of the official Mxpie site at Mxpie.com
4. Can I download WinMX and MXPie patch bundled together?
This is currently not an option we offer, however we intend to add it along with the new Mxpie Patch due in the near future
you can download still WinMX software for free. Once the MXPie Patch is installed you will be able to connect to the WinMX network as before.
5. If I had WinMX before Frontcode shutdown, do I need to get a new copy of the WinMX program?
No, just download and install MXPie Patch and then WinMX will be able connect to the network again using all your old WinMX settings.
6. I currently use the WinMXGroup patch. Should I remove it?
As a user, you have a choice of which patch to use, however the owner of Winmxgroup (King Macro - KM) has now ceased support for his patch and users and has instead chosen to attack the network using exploits in his software namely his WCS chat server, we would therefore advise removing any software from KM and or his Winmxgroup as soon as possible to avoid any issues.
7. I currently use the patch from mxpie.info Should I remove it?
Yes, this patch is a hosts file only, which means it offers you the user NO protection whatsoever from being hit by flood attacks from the Riaa and their paid agents, in addition primary users of this patch are likely to be be un-wittingly assisting the Riaa by allowing their PC to be used to flood the Winmx network. This particular un-official rogue group calling themselves a Pie group recommend the use of PG2 an IP blocker, however many users find it complicated, it slows their PC, and the IP lists used to provide user protection to be hugely over the top and often missing some of the worst flooders on Winmx. The method of connection to Winmx is flawed and is currently the main reason why the Riaa agents are able to flood our network.
8. I can't get MXPie Patch to work, what should I do?

9. Will MXPie ever become a pay service?
No, there is nothing to pay for, the original software WInmx, is available for free as is the MXpie patch
10. Is it true MXpie and Winmx World are working together on a new patch?
Yes, this is true, a number of users from both teams are cooperating to produce a new patch that is intended to be open source. This patch will actively block flooders from users connnections, as well as filtering fake files from users search results. In addition to this patch its expected there will be several open source peer caches available for independent users to operate. Please note the rogue group calling themselves mxpie.info have refused to be a part of this joint effort and have instead chosen to continue to offer their patch that assists the Riaa to flood the network. In addition the operator of the mxpie.info peer caches has begun selectively blocking Winmx users from connecting to the network, this type of censorship is against the very principals of p2p and should be opposed at every opportunity.
